GPS has become a very valuable tool and is on the cutting edge of .... We have used the Novatel Rover System for over a year with Carlson Software’s SurvCadd CES as an engine. It allows us constant instant knowledge of grades. The Wal-Mart site in Harrisonville required us to move 750,000 cubic yards in three weeks. By using GPS, one man was able to keep up with our 20 scraper fleet. The Carlson software has been a complete software for us from office to field. It is also the base software for our other systems.
Our Dozer 2000 system consists of an on board computer giving operators the information they need. Instant grades, offsets, center-line, slopes, data collection for production reports, anything the task requires, this system responds with real time information. did I mention that it works great on slopes? We are using this system on a 4 mile long Corps of Engineer’s levee with flawless results.
GradeStar automatic machine control system with SonicMaster is used for finish motorgrade work. It is similar to the Dozer 2000 yet it can be used with GPS, laser control, or a string line. It provides full automation for the operator including tilt and side shift.
Grade checkers use a Leica pole system and a Dap Technologies’ WindowsCE data collector with Carlson’s SurvCE. This gives them most of the functions of the SurvCad in a smaller package allowing them to set grade stakes, stakeout points, slope stake, or collect data for production reports.
