Woodlands Racing Facility - Kansas City, Kansas

In the summer of 1989 betting on horse and dog racing was suddenly legal in the State of Kansas. In the rush to be the first racing facility open in the state Damon Pursell Construction was hired by the general contractor to perform the major site work. Clearing the trees from over 100 acres, excavating and placing 800,000 cubic yards of rock, constructing all the storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and waterlines, and finish grading for the new horse and greyhound racing facility called The Woodlands Racing Facility in Kansas City, Kansas was done on time and within budget. Damon Pursell Construction’s contract for this project was $13,000,000.00.

Renaissance in the Northland

When Prospect North L.L.C. looked at a rough, wooded, rocky, 60 acre site they envisioned a large upscale mixed use development in Kansas City North called Renaissance in the Northland. Damon Pursell Construction was contracted for a sum of $3,266,000 to Clear the site, Demolish houses, Control Erosion, Drill and Blast 85,000 cubic yards of rock. Chouteau Crossing

Difficult site conditions are nothing new to Damon Pursell Construction. The Hardy Peterson Realty Co. wanted to build a large shopping center, Chouteau Crossing, on an old recreational lake that had become a dumpsite for rock, dirt and demolished paving for many years. The work included: Clearing, Over-Excavating and Backfilling unstable soils, moving a total of 275,000 cubic yards. Rough Grading, Erosion Control, Installation of a large Precast Box Culvert, and Rip Rap Slope Protection for a contract amount of $1,146,000.00

Target Super Center T-1455

Damon Pursell Construction completed the Target Super Center located at Mo. Highway 152 and Flintclock Road in Kansas City, Mo. for Target Stores, Inc. This work included: Grading, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, and Waterline for a cost of $1,070,000.00.

Braircliff Village

When developer, Briarcliff Village L.L.C., wanted to construct the next phase of their large upscale development with panoramic views of the Kansas City skyline, they choose Damon Pursell Construction to perform all the site work. The work for a new commercial shopping and office complex includes; Grading, Rock Excavation, Retaining Walls, Site Utilities, Parking Lot Lighting, Paving, Sidewalks and Erosion Control. The total Contract is $2.7 million.

Wal-Mart Distribution Center - Harrisonville, Missouri

Damon Pursell Construction was hired by Wal-Mart, Inc. for the grading of an 80 acre site for the construction of a new Wal-mart Distribution Center. This project required moving approx. 750,000 cubic yards of dirt and shale of which approximately 600,000 cubic yards was moved, placed and compacted in 3 weeks. Work was performed 7 days per week and 12 hours a day when necessary to meet the very aggressive schedule. Additional work included Clearing, Fly Ash Stabilization, and Placement of Base Rock for the warehouse floor subgrade. GPS Layout and grade staking was performed by our own forces. Contract Amount for this project $2,945,000.00.

Lafarge Sugar Creek II Site Grading- Drainage & Paving

A fast-track schedule was required of Damon Pursell Construction to perform the Final Grading, Paving and Storm Sewer work for the new LaFarge Cement Plant in Sugar Creek, Mo. in the Summer of 2002. When required, to meet the schedule yet accommodate the day-to-day operations of the plant, work was performed during 12-hour work days and on weekends. The contract totaled $2,500,000.00
